Brenice Jean "Benny" Alexander age 78 died Thursday, April 7, 2011 at her residence in Columbus. Services will be held Tuesday April 12, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mickey Dalrymple and Rev. Sammy Crawford officiating.
Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Monday April 11, 2011 from 5 p.m.until 8:00 p.m.
Mrs. Alexander was born on Sunday, May 22, 1932 in Louisville, MS to the late W.A. and Ollie Scott Dempsey. She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church where she taught a Sunday school class. She was a retired elemen- tary school teacher having taught 33 years in the Warren County School System in Warren Michigan.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her 1st husband Maurice McBrayer. Survivors include her husband: Lindsey Alexander, Columbus MS; one son: Larry McBrayer (Mary), Cincinnati, OH; two step- daughters: Barbara Hogaboom, Brooksville, MS, and Sharon Alexander, Starkville, MS; two step- sons: Danny (Diane) Alexander, Starkville, MS, and Douglas (Annette) Alexander, Puchuta, MS; one sister: Lucille Alexander, Columbus, MS; one brother: Brice Dempsey (Nancy), Louisville, MS and two grandchildren: Lauren Wells (Anthony) and Elisabeth McBrayer.
