When I first started this website and this particular page I did so with the intentions of posting all the McBrayer family records for anyone to download, add to their own personal research and records, and for the entire family to enjoy. I thought I was very clear in posting a warning that the information I was posting was copyrighted and that I would not allow it to be reposted on the internet. Shortly after making the information available to you, however, I was doing some additional research on the internet and came across a person who had downloaded all my work, added it to their records and had re-posted it on Ancestry.com - all without permission and also without any acknowledgements as to where they had obtained the information or who was the author. As a result I removed all the books, records, and family information from this page - so no one could have access or download. This wasn't fair to the legimitate researchers and those searching for their personal roots and who utilized the information in a proper, personal manner. All it takes for everyone to suffer is one un-thinking, un-caring person who can't respect the copyright laws of this country.

I'm now going to begin posting some of the books and listings I have on the McBrayer family. I do want to remind everyone, though, that this information IS COPYRIGHTED, but that I will share for personal use only. In other words I will give you permission to use it in your personal genealogy records, but I will not allow it to be reposted anywhere on the internet under any circumstances. In the future if I find anyone using the information in any inappropriate manner - such as reposting on any other websites, including Ancestry.com - legal action will be initiated to halt that person. I might also inform you that codes have now been embedded within the documentation I am posting here that will enable me to verify if anyone has downloaded and re-posted. So BEWARE! I don't like to be this way, but I'm getting really frustrated with those who steal another person's work and use it as their own without giving due credit to the original researcher. Please understand! Be responsible! Don't abuse!

A couple years ago I was contacted by an individual in Ohio who was researching her ancestral line and had come to a dead end with a Lurana McBrayer. She wanted to know if I had anything on Lurana or if I could place her into the family lines. Upon checking my records I could find nothing, but with some dates and locations that had been provided, I felt that Lurana McBrayer might be the a missing daughter of James R. and Anne Sanders McBrayer of KY. Thanks to Evelyn Baker of Ohio, who has accomplished a remarkable amount of research and provided the bulk of the information, we now know that Lurana was definitely the daughter of James R. Since that initial contact others have contacted me concerning this same line. I think it is time to post the records so that anyone searching this line/branch will have access to what has been uncovered. (PLEASE REMEMBER THAT THESE RECORDS ARE COPYRIGHTED! Use them properly.)

A NEW DAUGHTER DISCOVERED!

An email received in March 2010 from Maggie Higdon Murphy requesting information on a Hannah Cordelia McBryar Higdon has brought forth a new daughter of Thomas Jefferson McBryar of AL/GA. This new daughter, Hannah, was born in 1881 - a year after the 1880 census. Since the 1890 census records had been destroyed she could not be located there. Then she did not appear in the 1900 records BECAUSE she was married in 1898 and had begun her own family. Unfortunately, Hannah did not appear as child of Thomas in any of the records and was never discovered in our research. It was only when that email was received that we were even aware of this daughter. Maggie has been most cooperative in the past days providing new information and pictures for her line. Below is a downloadable book on the descendants of Thomas Jefferson McBryar. There are also pictures that have been posted in the "McBryar" page of the Photo Album that can be viewed and downloaded. Thanks, Maggie, for all your help.
