John Coe Brier was the son of James Malcom Brier, Jr., the son of James Malcom Brier & Emma A., the son of John & Deborah Brier, son of James Malcolm & Mary Lodge Brier, son of David & Agnes Dickson McBrayer/Brier.....

John Coe Brier, Sr., 84, passed away, Wednesday, March 9, 2011, at Aldersgate Village in Topeka. John was born May 22, 1926, in Topeka, the son of James M. and Dorothy (Coe) Brier. He attended Topeka schools and graduated from Washburn University with a bachelor's degree. He was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. He served in the Navy during WWII. John served on the Board of Trustees at First Presbyterian Church. He was on the Executive Board of the Boy Scouts of America, was a member of the Topeka Rotary Club and Topeka Country Club, where he loved to golf and play tennis. John was one of the founding members of the Blute Patrol. He loved being outdoors, hunting, riding horses and, more recently, riding his tractor and playing with his dog Charlie. John married Virginia (Bantleon) McClure, she survives. Survivors include his wife, Virginia Brier; son, Peter (Kim) Brier, Augusta, KS, daughter, Jaime Brier, Topeka; step-sons, John McClure, Erie, CO, Henry McClure, Topeka; grandchildren, Lindsay Brier-Smith, Shanda Brier, Michelle Brier Fox, Paige Brier, Fran Euwer, Faye Bean, Bianca McClure and great-grandchildren; brother, James M. Brier, III and his wife Joanne; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, John Coe Brier, Jr., and his brother, Steve Brier. Memorial service will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at First Presbyterian Church, 817 SW Harrison, Topeka, KS 66612.
