Ramona McBrayer Ross
(August 18, 1931 - August 3, 2011)

Ramona McBrayer Ross Gaffney, SC - - Ramona McBrayer Ross, 79, of 105 Hillside Drive, passed away on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at her residence. Mrs. Ross was born in Rutherfordton, North Carolina on August 18, 1931 to the late John Sewell and Pearle Nash McBrayer. Following her graduation from Harris High School, she attended Gardner Webb College prior to completing her undergraduate degree in Music from Limestone College. Later she received her Master’s Degree from Winthrop University. Mrs. Ross taught in the public schools for 30 years. She was church organist at Gaffney First Baptist and Limestone Presbyterian Church for 33 years. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Robert Dean Ross of the home; one brother, John Sewell McBrayer, Jr. of Randolph, Wisconsin; a sister-in-law, May Frances Ross Hummon of Sante Fe, New Mexico. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ross was preceded in death by a son, Robert Dean Ross, II and a daughter, Elizabeth Jane Ross. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 6, 2011 at First Baptist Church. Funeral services will immediately follow at 11:00 AM at the church with Dr. M. B. Morrow, Jr. officiating. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery. Members of the Hopper Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Friends of Music at Limestone College, 1115 College Drive, Gaffney, SC 29340 or to Meals on Wheels, P.O. Box 1886, Gaffney, SC 29342.
