Waldine McBrayer (wife of William Pierce McBrayer)

Preston, Mississippi

Waldine Haggard McBrayer, 98, passed peacefully Wednesday September 7, 2011 at Infinity Hospice in Marion, Miss. after a brief illness.

Waldine's great loves were her family, church community, and her yard. She was a member of Dry Creek Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing, served as a weather observer for the National Weather Service for more than 25 years, and was active in the Mississippi State University Extension Service. She also spent many years serving the local community working with her late husband Pierce in the McBrayer Mercantile Store, later known as County Line Grocery.

Waldine was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Metts, Robert, and Nowell Haggard, and sisters Minnie Mae Reed and Pauline Etheridge.

She is survived by her daughter Dorothy Arlene Addkison (Donald), granddaughter Donna Arlene Addkison (Jack Giovo), great grandson Donald Simmons III, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 12 Noon until 2:00 P.M. Saturday, Sept. 10 at Porter Funeral Home, Louisville, Miss. with funeral service to be held at 2:00 P.M. Burial and graveside prayer will follow at Dry Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Preston, Miss.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests the consideration of a donation to the Dry Creek Baptist Church Cemetery Fund. To sign the guest register go to
